Congratulations, you are engaged

To whom it may concern.

When you announce that you’re engaged, I am sincerely happy for you, period. That dreamy look that you see in my eyes doesn’t mean that I wish the same happens for me. Instead, I am wishing that I could afford to get you the wedding dress of your dreams, or that I can be able to make your dream wedding come true. 

When you say you are about to get married, it is your moment. I am not going to make it dull by wishing I was the one putting on your shoes. I am sincerely excited and happy for you. I want us to have a beautiful time planning for your big day, have endless sleep-overs (you know that is likely not to happen after you get married) and spend as much time as we can together. I want to enjoy that time and to focus all my attention on you. You, darling, are worth it.

Please, don’t tell me that you are praying for me to get proposed to as well. You are not sure that is what I am praying for. If you must pray, please pray for me to get money. With that money, I will be able to afford to make some of the things you have always wanted to have on your wedding possible. 

Pray that I will be able to enjoy my single life a lot more. This is what I have come to learn, being single is not a curse neither does it mean there is anything wrong with me. Rather, it is a time for me to get to know me better, to focus on my hopes and dreams, and to keep living my life to the fullest. I have learned that I don’t have to put my life on hold while I wait for a man to get on one and ask me to be his forever.

More about the money; pray that I can go on those trips that I have always wanted to go for. Now is as good a time as any. We have always talked about this. The road trips and the unplanned random travels; pray that I get to see the seven wonders of the world and feel the sands of the desert; I want to experience all that. The most important travel destination is Hawaii. I have dreamed and talked about that beautiful island since forever. Pray that it is a dream that comes true. 

Is there an idea I would like to pursue? I am going to do just that. Do I think I need to get another degree, what and who is stopping me? Pray that I discover what I love to do, my goals and ambitions, and the resilience to always write down my priorities. Above all, pray that any relationship going forward allows me the opportunity to be myself and reach my goals.

You know how I have always wanted to learn the French language, right? Well, I am no closer to getting past oui monsieur/ mademoiselle. Pray, pray for me that now is the time I learn this wonderful language. I need to but at this point, it will take some divine intervention. 

You are engaged and I am truly happy for you. Do not even for a moment worry about me or feel guilty about it. Darling, enjoy your big moment, you deserve all the happiness.
